Threephase Reactors – Commutation Reactors
The most common application for this type of reactor consists in installation before rectifier circuits or more in general before electronic circuits such as electric drives and frequency converters. They are useful for limiting current spikes during the commutation transient, therefore protecting the electronic components such as transistors, SCRs, etc. The reactors are also important to reduce the harmonics content on the input line, with the added benefit of limiting the electromagnetic interferences towards other appliances connected to the same input line. Usually the commutation reactors in our production line are designed with a value of the short-circuit voltage not lower than 4%.
