The autotransformers for supply of electrically heated furnaces are built with many load regulation taps; they are usually designed upon client specification regarding power and number of taps needed.
The use of an autotransformer instead of a transformer of the same power has also an economical advantage as its size depends on the difference between minimum and maximum voltage.
They are built according to autotransformer standards, IEC 61558-2-13, and for higher power they also comply to IEC 60076-11 standard in applicable parts.
