Autotransformers for supplying furnace resistors are characterized by the presence of numerous output regulation taps; they are generally designed and manufactured according to the customer’s project needs, both regarding power and the number of available taps. The use of an autotransformer instead of a transformer of equal power is more convenient, as its sizing depends on the difference between the minimum and maximum voltage.
They comply with autotransformer standards, namely the European standard IEC 61558-2-13, and for higher powers they also comply with the IEC 60076-11 standards in the applicable parts.
